The success of Massachusetts’ ballot initiative amounts to a “real movement” forward. It took years of organizing (with failures along the way) to pass a constitutional amendment enabling the people of the commonwealth to enact a graduated income tax. That achievement isn’t more important than the Dems beating back election-deniers and putting Trumpists on their heels, but it’s a victory that might become a model for other states looking to tax the rich.
