Israeli Minister Smotrich says it, literally out in the open, that the formal policy now/intention is to: 1- Get the bare minimum of food into Gaza to avoid war crime allegations and manage optics & appearances; 2- Concentrate the population in the south and then carry out ethnic cleansing and get them removed from the Gaza Strip; 3- Destroy everything in the Gaza Strip, target or not, to make it unlivable and get people to leave; 4- Shrewdly navigate the international community & give them crumbs to avoid Israel being forced to stop the war. His words, not mine – His words, not mine; listen for yourself. Smotrich, Netanyahu, Ben Gvir, and company have turned Israel into an international pariah, and a liability to its closest allies with how it’s conducting the war, dogged by accusations and allegations of war crimes, genocide, ethnic cleansing, and associated with some of the worst images of death and maiming that the world has seen in decades. Just as I regularly plead for the “pro-Palestine” movement to separate Palestinians from Hamas & violent extremism, it’s time for Israelis to abandon this band of criminals and thugs who are destroying Israel from within and to separate Israel’s security from outright criminal fascism. And please don’t tell me this guy or Ben Gvir aren’t making policy; they are literally the only thing keeping Netanyahu’s coalition together and forcing him into making decisions, or else threatening to leave and collapse the government.
