Keep an Eye Out for Wanted Man: Quentin Dupieux, Mr Oizo

Wanted: For crimes against reality.  Dupieux has been known to distort our common reference through humor and his secret weapon of realistic absurdity.

Latest Crime: Lately apprehended by Paris police, an innocent – perhaps not so innocent – man is interrogated over a series of completely explainable events, all occurring after midnight and confirmed by the perfect eye witness, a neighbor with a perpetually opening door. This man’s encounter on the street resulted in the death of an innocent, biologically-compromised passer-by. Somehow – perhaps best not to ask exactly how it was triangulated – an accidental murder takes place inside the interrogation room.

Police are not revealing any more details of the crime, pending further investigation and a reasonable dinner – perhaps something better than a half-eaten candy bar or day-old oysters.

Past Crimes:  We Wrong Cops have been Wrong before about Dupieux.  We trusted him with Reality, only to get a sense of things run over by a Rubber tire.

Modus Operandi:  Dupieux displays a crafty sleight of hand, for example, actually altering one’s certainty through time-shifting recollections that occur with players from the future. He’s actually sneaking in his off-balancing wittiness into his surreal witnesses, inserting oddness through the tiniest details.  Slight word play or background details – he’s been known to actually sets alarm clocks to 7:60 – mix in with the overthetop underhandedness – drugs wrapped in fish or tires that kill. Encountering Dupieux, one must be prepared for disarming laughter. Actually.

Distinctive (re)Marks: … Just one idea—that’s not enough.  … I just want to stay close to my childhood, when I was trying to make short films with a bad video camera … Human beings we are more complex than just one type of information.

Consider Duipieux visionary and dangerous.  Best you keep an eye out for him.
