To the God of Abraham

You
make me taste your
……………….vastness on my tongue
then dismiss me
one of many loved
……………….beneath the belly of the sun
You
sent your first prophet
……………….to both sides now warring
who yet subsist on
……………….promises of land &
dominance

You
make us of bellies and lungs
……………….to starve collectively
to choke on fire nights
your countless cold stars disappear
……………….in acrid smokeno good to anyone
You
through the ages
fire-cloaked avenger or merciful deliverer
……………….consider the catalogueyour names reify
deified again & againour impulse
……………….to turn inside exploited
You
cut radically to piecesinert under rubble
……………….the scale of these deaths
……………….can’t be justifiedthe minute
eyes close the dead child arrives
……………….alive inside raw eyelids
You
dare me to defy hate
……………….to invent a willingness to hold fast
to your tail of nothingness
……………….& keep saying of You
Love Is & I do
